There is a discussion in the Autodesk Civil 3D forum about the way quantity take-off (QTO) has been implemented in Civil 3D. It is designed to use the 2D area for computing material quantities. For example, seeding area would be computed by projecting the 3D surface area to a 2D plane. Likewise for linear computations (i.e. lengths of curb). Apparently they consider this to be the standard practice.
My question is: do the QTO tools in Bentley civil products use this method as well, or are the values based on 3D areas?
