Hello,
I am new to Geopak V8i SS2. I have been learning the Design and Computation Manager. My current understanding to experience the functionality of the tool is as follows: If I want the option to modify a Microstation element such as complex line to coincide with the category symbology selected in left pane, then I need to select the paintbrush icon in left pane. Also true of the display tools, they work when using the paint brush icon in left pane. Also true of the Step tool, the paint brush must be selected if need to match symbology. However, something I am finding very confusing is the video on the Bentley archive titled: "Design and Computation Manager Design Tool". In the first 3.5 minutes of the video, the demonstrator shows very clearly the ability to modify the symbology of a Microstation line having the calculator selected in the left pane, not the paint brush, and using the MS copy and modify commands with Place Influence selected (see attached image) to change the symbology of lines. Why is the instructor getting performance that I am told can only come from the paint brush icon in left pane of D &CM ? Is this occurring because of the internal programing of the calculator icon, some allow above described performance, others do not?
