Easiest Way To Set COGO Points?

Simple task, right? All I want to do is set some points with PtXYZDesc for export. I don't want them associated with "geometry," or a "traverse."

I know I can go into Survey>Fieldbook Data and right click in the upper Station pane and Add (a new station) After the last station in the list, then use the following dialog with tentative snaps to select the XY of my new point, paying attention to the Pt, Z & Desc as I create. But after one successful point creation it doesn't seem to want to accept the XY that I accept using Microstation accept I get the tentative snap where I want it. It defaults to the last good point's XY.

If I try to Add After in the Observations pane, it lets me add one Observation and that's it - it keeps using the same XY over and over.

I can add a "point," then edit it, but that is way too much work for what should be really about one click per point if you set the default Pt, Z & Desc values, along with AccuSnap settings. Seriously. It should be that simple, but it is already taking me about four or five clicks per point after I get all the dialogs open, then I have to edit after the first point which is another four or five clicks per point, plus I have to  either add the points to the dgn graphically - or examine the XY fieldbook listing causing me to get headaches as my brain sloshes back and forth between monitors looking at graphics then reading coordinate values - to ensure that the data is correct, so I know I must be missing something fundamental. What is it?

Thanks.
