On this project, I am trying to transition between two templates over about 50' of stationing. On the left, removed constraints allow the widths of certain segments/components to transition as desired. On the right side, I have a V ditch that point controls are moving it horizontally and vertically to the right and down through the transition area. On the far right, another point control ties the end of the template to an existing DTM feature. I setup the ditch with three points - a left top, a ditch bottom and a right top. to get a symmetrical ditch, I defined the slope from the ditch bottom to the right top to be equal to -1 times the slope from the left top to the bottom.
This works exactly as I want, as the bottom is pulled down and to the right - but only if I disable the transition. With the transition disabled, the ditch has matching left and right slopes - but then, might left side of the corridor fails to transition. If I enable the transition, the left side of the ditch follows the point control and the slope and depth varies while the right side ignores the changing left slope and holds the original slope, instead of mirroring it.
This animated gif shows the transition as it works in one area - near the end, it jumps to a sharp V ditch - that's where it enters the transition area that is enabled and the calculated mirrored slope fails to function. As it is in a transition area, I cannot free any constraints or it gets even worse since the end of the template is controlled by a point control. The next point in from that point control uses the intersection of two slopes from the adjacent points to determine its location - with no constraints, it simply holds its relative location to the template origin which is not desirable at all.
