Vertical Geometry - Profile by 3d Element

I am trying to use the "Profile by 3d Element" tool to develop retaining wall profiles.

The area in question is at a bridge where the wall is being modeled by a linear template spanning from one side of the bride to the other, therefore the 3d line string is one element with a gap at the bridge.

The horizontal alignments are set up such as there are two alignments, one on each side of the bridge.

If I use the "Profile by 3d Element" command, I get the correct profile in the area long the horizontal alignment.  But, I also get a vertical line at the end of the profile, which I am assuming represents the portion of the 3d element outside of the station range of the horizontal.

I do not think this vertical portion of the 3d element should be included in the profile in this situation.

I can provide sample data if needed.
