I have a survey file that I had done several point and chain edits to correct survey mistakes, etc. I then deactivated survey processing in order to do some editing of the terrain model (swap triangles, etc.) This was all last week Friday. Today I opened the file to continue editing my terrain model. The file was acting strange and MS would hang for ten seconds or so on every operation (wheel zooming, triangle swapping, etc.). I then did a File...Save Settings, and then a File...Exit. The Exit really locked up the file for several minutes, so I used Task Manager to kill any running MS/GEOPAK processes. When I reopened the file, the terrain model and all the survey chains were not only graphically missing from the file, but there was also no field book data in the Project Explorer. So, basically all of the survey data and terrain is missing and all that is left is the graphics of the point features.
Luckily I was able to restore this file from Friday's backup, but this is very concerning to me. If MS locks up again while in a survey file all of the survey data could be lost.
Has anyone experienced this behavior in SS3 or SS3 Survey?
