Using Geopak SS3, I've had success adding vertices to simpler Civil elements, but today I was frustrated trying (and failing) to add a vertex to a Variable Offset Taper element.
First I felt retarded, and then I thought of an enhancement possibility:
A civil tool could be provided that serves as shorthand for the following steps, which will effectively, simultaneously maintain variable offset taper ruling and serve as a break element tool:
- User activates tool named _____.
- Prompt user to specify element to be modified.
- Collect information on the element's terminal points--including element from which station and offset are registered, plus the station and offset from that element.
- Reduce the first element's size according to the user-provided DP.
- Create a new element using the original terminal point and the user-provided DP.
- The name of the new element should be changed from the original in the usual way: adding 1 to the end of the name, exactly as happens when you draw a simple Civil line and break that element.
The process here could be expanded to other element types as well, perhaps.
