I am working in Power InRoads Ss2 (most recent version) on a project with widening and resurfacing. We are not modelling the resurfaced part of the road, but are using the milling and overlay components so they will show on the cross sections. To get a clean set of proposed contours, I use the Alternate Surface capabilities to create partial surfaces of the areas of new construction, excluding the resurfacing areas. This works really well to create separate surfaces for the disjointed areas of the design.
However, my templates are using rounding on the end condition segments. The actual points in the template assigned to the alternate surfaces are correctly created at their locations according to the rounding algorithm. But the rounding features that get created as offsets to the end condition solution only get created in the overall design surface.
I can use the copy portion of surface tool to manually add them to the separate alternate surfaces, but this is extra steps that can easily be overlooked. My colleagues who also use InRoads are no where near as advanced in their abilities and sharing this workflow is not a trivial process.
Has any consideration been given to adding this functionality to newer versions of the software, or is this usage of alternate surfaces beyond the intended scope?
