I wanted to test making a Text Favorite for our Survey TREE features. Our Attribute names are not the same as the delivered example and I did not see any way to change the field properties of an existing fevorite.
So following the video, I attached a survey file with TREE features displayed. Then I opened the text Editor and tried to insert a field based upon Element Properties. When prompted to select Element, I selected a TREE feature in the reference file. When I accept, the Element Propertied dialog box appears but looks like this:
As you can see, the Point Feature panels are missing, making it impossible to select the attributes.
Am I missing something or some step?
As a last resort, I tried copying the survey point into my DGNLIB. After an inordinately long delay, the hourglass went away and I was back in control, but saw no sign of the copied tree.
I then turned of the display of the reference file and issued a Fit View command and zoomed in on the green speck where I finally found the copied survey point.
With the point in the active file, the steps in the video work, but the attribute is being read as text, leaving me no option to assign a decimal point setting.
When I reference in a survey file to any file, the element information/properties dialog box does not expose the point properties. I tested this with a 2d model and a 3d model.
So I am left with a couple of questions:
- Why can't I create a text favorite for a survey point as the training videos show?
- How do I get Survey to recognize certain attributes as numeric and therefore allow me to specify the number of decimal places?
The attribute value comes in as 24.0 and I want to only display 24.
