Total Ponded Width at Sag in GEOPAK Drainage

$

Based off of a previous answered question on this forum, I understand that "The Total Ponded Width reported for Sag Inlets is the computed head at the inlet projected across the spread section." but how does this value relate to the Ponded Width Left/Right? Does the value take in account the length/size of the inlet, or does the value represent a product of flow from both sides at one single point in the middle of the inlet? If so, how applicable is this value to design?

Thank you!

Roadway Designer - Proposed Surface Triangulating through components

$

Hi,

I have a some templates that I took over from around 2009 and I am having some issues with the triangulation. When creating a surface through roadway designer, the triangulation is connecting to points underneath the top components in locations. And all components in the templates are set to triangulate. Has anybody come across this? I'd hate to have to re-build the templates completely.

Thanks!

Profile i know how to get it. Just tell me for plan. I want fit 5000m plan in 500mm length sheet.

Here by iam attaching my plan and profile settings, global scale factor, and my final output.

5000m plan is exceeding  beyond sheet premises.

Geopak SS3 tool locks

I'm not sure what the key words or nomenclature is here, but I'm inclined to use the term "tool settings locks". Let me know if there's another prevailing term for this.

Let's say I'm using the Horizontal Geometry tool Variable Offset Taper. I know that you can hit Alt to lock to start or to end, and unlock those as appropriate too, but here I'm talking about offsets and other locks such as length or station or whatever. Let's say that in a previous use of the tool, I had locked the offset at 8'. But now, I want to snap to a specific point with an arbitrary offset. I know that I can go to the tool settings and uncheck the box to turn off the lock. What I'm looking for is a way to unlock it through the heads-up interface that's being encouraged.

Am I asking for an enhancement or is there another way to achieve this? I've tried hitting Enter and Ctrl+Enter and Shift+Enter. None of these unlock a setting.

MX ROAD Junction Visibility Analysis

I need to check a large number of simple T-junctions for visibility and I have looked at the MX ROAD junction visibility tool but from what I can tell it only checks the visibility along the actual visibility splay line and not the entire visibility envelope (similar to the forward visibility tool) as shown in peach in this diagram:

Could anyone confirm if this is the case and if so how the whole envelope instead of just the line could be checked using MX?

Thanks,

Proposed XSEC from Corridor Modeler not Placed at Correct Elevation in Cross Section File GEOPAK SS2 08.11.07.615

I'm seeing some weird things in my cross sections where the proposed cross sections are not displaying at the right elevation when I cut cross sections. The image below shows the XSEC in corridor modeler, notice how the prop sidewalk is touching the existing sidewalk (which is correct).

When I cut the cross sections the proposed sidewalk is now above the existing sidewalk as shown below.

When I check the elevation of the proposed TIN using Plan View Labeler (Z Elevation TIN) all the elevations that I check are correct (and correspond with the elevations in corridor modeler when I hover over a point) so that tells me that the proposed model is fine. Also, the existing TIN elevations are correct in modeler, XSEC file and plan so only the proposed XSEC's are wrong in the XSEC file only. I don't know if this matters but this stretch of corridor is in a station equation. The corridor is shaped like a Z and there is one alignment for the whole project but 3 different verticals so I had to copy the alignment 3 times and name them differently and assign each vertical to the correct copied alignment so that they will work in CM since you can't assign 3 verticals to 1 horizontal.

Rotate 5 degrees stopped working - But Only in affected files?

Weird issue.  We have several files that have suddenly stopped responding to the rotate 5 degrees view command.  Rotate to element still works, as does Rotate to North.  Any idea what setting has gotten fouled up?  The rotate 5 is still working in some other drawings.  Thanks, Michael

[Power Geopak] MDL Loader: Could not load application [incomplete path]

I'm running Power Geopak SS3 with substantially all the same workspace elements (as much as possible) as when I was using Microstation + Geopak SS3 last week.

I'm getting this message, which I never got when using MS+G:

MDL Loader: Could not load application C:\RWDDA

That's it. Not only is that an incomplete path to any MA file I have, RWDDA is not a complete name for one directory in a valid path. Where might I look for what file it's trying to load? Or are there any other clues I'm missing?

I don't know that this is a problem for me, since everything else seems to behave as I could expect, but I don't like the idea of this text window showing up every time I load Power Geopak.

Lag Time During Basic Operation [Ss3]

$

I am working in Power InRoads Ss2 which is based upon MicroStation Ss3 and InRoads Ss2. I am also working in ProjectWise. However, this would seem to be a core MicroStation issue. My PC is running Windows 7 32 bit on a Quad Core i3 370M 2.4 Ghz with 4 Gb of Ram.

As I work, actions as simple as panning or scroll wheel zooming in and out will cause my session to appear to freeze for as long as 10 seconds or more, before returning function back to me. I even tried turning off the Autosave function but it has not helped. I just tested and it took 16 seconds to restore the operation after a zoom out and in using the mouse wheel.

Have others experienced this and does anyone know a solution?

TIA.

Unable to select points in design and computation manager to plot

I know I am doing something wrong, but am unsure what it is.  My visualization is turned on in GEOPAK to permanent.  Go to Design and Computation Manager and choose PtLabel Point Label and tell it to draw cogo element.  Access my GPK file and hit the pulldown but points are greyed out.  Open same gpk in my SS2 and just fine.  So I know it is user error.  Any ideas what I have set wrong so that I can change the setting and prot points for printouts?  We are just transitioning to SS3 and I am having to change a lot of settings so I am pretty sure this is the issue.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Importing photos into OpenRoads Survey then reference the file

$

I have successfully been able to import photos from Trimble data collectors to OpenRoads. It works great.

What I want to know is how do I share that?

As a surveyor I do not want others in my DGN file that has the fieldbook and photos.

If I reference the DGN fieldbook the media files do not show up in the Civil Model tab of the Project Explorer.  If I export the file to DGN the photos do not go with the file as Links.  I do not want to recreate the photo attachment using Links.

Any other suggestions or can I get a CR#?

Thanks
Bob

Template Editor Ss2 Old Bug is Back in Point List Dialog Box

Many versions ago, I reported a bug in the Point List Dialog Box. For a while, I believe it was fixed. But recently, I noticed it has returned.

Sometimes, when opened, the Point List Dialog Box opens taller than will fit on the screen. If one attempts to resize it by grabbing one of its edges, the dialog box will vanish and then, all future attempts at any type of input, mouse operation, etc. results in an error beep. One might think the only solution now is the Task Manager. However, the truth is, that the dialog box is still open but just not visible. The simple solution is to press the Exc key as this presses the Close Button on the dialog box. Now, if one reopens the dialog box, it appears normal sized and can be resized via the mouse.

OpenRoads Ss4: some Profile Intersection Points at incorrect elevations

$

I am working on an intersection return. I have a set of six parallel arcs that I have profiled. I used the Profile Intersection Points command to display the two edge of pavement points from the intersecting roadways and placed a vertical alignment between these two points for each of the six arc profiles. I then placed a feature through the midpoints of the six parallel arcs in plan view and profiled that feature. I used the Profile Intersection Points command to display the crossing points of the set of parallel arcs along the feature's profile. In a new DGN file I can get all six points to display at the correct elevations. After working in the DGN file for some time however, several of the points will display at 1000 times their correct elevation. The other points remain at their correct elevations. This scaling has occured in several different DGN files I created to test this and in each quadrant of the intersection I have tried. Has anyone else had an issue with scaling of the points as placed by the Profile Intersection Points command?

Thanks,

Paul

Non-void interior terrain model boundary

$

I'm trying to develop a terrain model to represent what the world will look like after the construction of a temporary circulatory roadway that's larger than the final one. In this scenario, the existing roadway will be carrying all traffic while the embankment to the outside is being built. I'd like to keep the existing pavement still visible in my complex terrain model.

While it may not be the best workflow, this is what I've done so far:

  1. Create a TM from the embankment and pavement surface of each of the approach and departure roadways.
  2. I created a complex TM from the existing terrain and added each of these TMs.
  3. Unfortunately, because I made the TMs separately and I didn't get into all the end conditions that perhaps I should have used for the temporary templates. So there were unlikely drops where there the shoulder from one TM conflicted with the pavement in another TM, and such.
  4. So I found this video at http://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki/8889.
  5. So I created a TM from only the pavement surfaces of them all. I made a single TM, so now there's a huge (mostly) flat surface in the midst of the central island. As you know I don't want this. So I made a shape and voided this space.
  6. I added this pavement-only TM to the complex TM. I was hoping and expecting that the void would simply be ignored in the complex TM and it would still show the existing stuff as though the void means you ignore it and maintain existing ground in that area. I was disappointed. And now there's a hole. Yay.

My next step is to create at least two individual TMs, and I expect that to work, but in the meantime, I suppose I'd like to suggest a different behavior for voids like this, or perhaps a new behavior for an additional element type.
