PIR SS4 - Alignment Symbols

In InRoads SS2 when I place an alignment I get the symbols for the PI's to show up automatically (see first image),

but when I place an alignment in Power InRoads SS4 I do not get the symbols for the PI's to show up (see second image).

Can someone explain why the symbols do not show up in the SS4 product?

Thanks,

InRoads Roadway Visibility equivalent in Power Geopak?

I've often used InRoads Roadway Visibility/Sight Distance tool when using corridor modeler, but we're trying to transition to Power GEOPAK SS4.  Is there an equivalent tool hidden somewhere that I could use the same functionality to verify sight distance through meshes or triangulated surfaces?  I'm currently using Power GEOPAK, 08.11.09.789.

Copy Project Defaults from an old hard drive

A coworker was just upgraded to a new PC. The hard drive from their previous computer has been pulled and stored for back up. Prior to the upgrade the IT person did not export their InRoads project defaults to load on the new PC. Is there a way to get the project defaults from the old hard drive without reinstalling the hard drive on the old PC and exporting them to a .reg file? Where are the project defaults stored? Is there a specific file that can be grabbed on the old hard drive and copied to the new one? The versions of Microstation (08.11.09.357) & InRoads (08.11.07.428) are the same on both hard drives.

Hi

I have a terrain model created with open roads from simple Autocad points. Now have we discover a error in elevation of 5 point.

What is the easies way to fix this?

I have tryed with "Edit Terrain Model" from "Task > Terrain Model", but can´t because my terrain is "Not a editable Terrain"

I am using PoverCivil for Denmark SS4 vers. 08.11.09.789

GEOPAK-RSC FILES

Hello,

I am using Power Geopak v8i SS2.

I typically erase the *.RSC files per a previous white paper regarding the operation of such modules as Geotechnical imports.  I noticed that the performance was improved once the *.RSC files were deleted.  However, I recently had the unfortunate experience of deleting a GPK.rsc (or similar) file and lost my project data base.  Now I am reluctant to delete these files but also understand the significance of user maintenance if Geopak is to run smoothly.  Are there certain *.RSC files I should not delete or perhaps this is a reflection on how I am setting up my project?

Slide IP option in InRoads

Greetings,

I am used to MX and am new to InRoads. In horizontal design using PI (point of Intersection) method in InRoads i do not see any option as slide PI (An option to move the IP in the direction of tangent)  like the one in MX quick horizontal design. There is only move PI option. Is there any technique to do that (in combination with accudraw, etc). It will be geat if anyone can provide me solution. THank you in advance.

OpenRoads Navigator - adding free comments

I wonder if there is a way to attach a free note to any given location in your project, like placing a PlaceMark with comment and attachment to where you tap a screen.

For now I found only the way to attach comment to an existing element. In my current workflow I want to take my android device onsite and use it to collect  information regarding existing terrain and infrastructure pieces just before designing phase. Only a map and a CL were published to imodel for better orientation in field. So there are not too many elements where I can attach notes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Where are the .lib files for Inroads C++?

I was trying to compile nonmodal sample in the VCSamples from the Inroads SDK.  I found that the compile requires SCadSDKAT.lib, but all I have is SCadSDKAT.dll.  I was wondering why the corresponding lib files aren't with the dlls?

Do we have to explicitly library load all of the dlls, or am I not looking in the correct location?

Thank you for the help,

Chad

Using InRoads SS2. Create a profile. Exit InRoads. Open the same file again. Ensure alignment is active. Attempt to annotate profile and no profiles show up in drop down list. Can't pick profile either(identify profile set). Have to recreate the profile every time the file is open. What setting am I missing?

Appreciate the help

When I try to create a profile that includes the S&S network, it would say "processing utilities" and would stuck there forever.

Has anyone run into such issue before?

Any idea is welcome. Thank you.

"Failed to Open the Database" when files were moved to local drive (Power Geopak v8i ss2)

Hi,

I copied all microstation and geopak files to the local drive. I wanted to be able to continue working from home. I repathed everthing in User Preferences to local drive. I can access the GPK file. I can see all the chains and profiles I created before but whenever I click on Draw Profiles, it keeps giving me "Failed to Open Database".

I cannot draw/project profiles that I previously created.

Can someone educate me on how to make this Database accessible when I moved everything from the network to local drive?

Thank you,

Yuli

OpenRoads - SS4 - Slow Speed

Hi,

I have recently started using OpenRoads (Power InRoads V8i - SELECT series 4 - V08.11.09.845) and I have noticed that it is very slow when changing between views (e.g. changing from a profile view to a layout/default view takes 5-10 seconds every time, even in a new file with little to no information in it).

I have watched several videos online and have never seen this delay in any of them. Are any other users experiencing this issue? Has anyone determined what may be causing this delay and how it can be resolved? Will this delay become longer with an increase in file size?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

InRoads SS3 - Terrain Model utilities

$

I have imported several existing DTM's that were created in InRoads SS2 by importing triangles as breaklines. This process makes the files so large because the triangles as breaklines are being counted numerous times. Triangle legs are on top of themselves producing duplicate information.

The thought process was to import into SS3 as terrain models and save out to native to be used in SS2. The DTM's were so large that "merging" them in SS2 was not possible. After exporting to native the file size is very large and slows down InRoads when using the Roadway Designer.

Is there anyway that the file size can be reduced in SS3 before exporting to native? I cannot seem to find any of the old utilities to compress.

I also tried to import the triangles in SS2 as random points. Only when I displayed contours the results were not desirable.

Thanks,

-Joe

Does Gopak (SS2) have the ability to label the bearings and distances of lines, and curves data similar to Civil 3D?  If so where might I find this tool?

Open roads terrain model create points at intervals

So, I have a terrain model.  Triangles are approximately 25 foot each.  I need to create the model at 20 foot triangles.  What is the easiest way to add additional points so that it will pull triangles at 20 intervals instead of the 25 that it is making?
