PowerCivil SS2 GeoPAK Drainage Profile Question

Hello. I'm running PowerCivil v8i, SS2. I am using the Drainage portion of Civil. When I am outputting profiles of my drainage system, the one issue I am running into is how to make GeoPAK output the pipe thickness and not just the pipes. Also, if there was a way for it to also output the Structure Bases (i.e. inlet/manhole/riser) that would be helpful as well.

 

I have a pretty good understanding of GeoPAK but cant seem to locate this feature, if it exists. I have all my ddb and dlb referenced, which is what is outputting the correct pipe sizes. Any help on how to output the thickness would be appreciated. Just dont want to offset manually in cad only to have to redo when i have a change in my system. Thanks!

SS4 Corridor Clipping

I keep getting the following error when I try to clip a corridor with another corridor:  An invalid clipping boundary was encountered and ignored.

What could be causing this?

define breakline

I am going to import a point cloud of the highway, then create the break line on right/ left edge of the payment. Is it possible to do it in InRoad? I tried pointools but I could not create the breakline.

mxroad earthwork interface

Hello,

Anyone know how to set the earthwork interface for normal cut 100% slope (1 to 1 slope) and 5m below existing ground consider as rock cut 400% slope (4 to 1 slope)?

How can I edit a tin boundary,

 I have a large surface and when I generate contours it is limited to Max Tri 75', but the tin exceeds that, to cover areas not mapped.

I want to be able to revise the boundary to the limit of the Max Triangle boundary, but when I select it and add it as a boundary it projects many of the points on the boundary to 0 elev.

DRAPING RASTER ON TERRAIN MESH - VERY POOR QUALITY

Hi All,

Thanks for the video explaining how to drape raster file onto terrain meshes. 

The problem I am having I am using a SID raster file and once it is assigned to the terrain mesh the quality is so poor you cant make it out!

It does not work like the video shows it? Any ideas.

The attached file shows the first image in the wire frame presentation style and then the second with smooth style presentation(Please visit the site to view this file).

OpenRoads Survey MX - Point Features not displaying cell

Hello,

I am trying to get openroads survey up and running using MXROAD SS4 08.11.09.845 .  Previously we processed survey data in mx.  We have created a survey settings dgnlib which contains the linked survey features as well as the survey link codes and other settings.

When we load a raw file it creates point and linear features.  The issue is that the point features are displaying with a cell called SurveyPoint on level default rather than the cell name pointed to in the linked pss file.

In the Survey point's feature definitions I have had it set to point to the style set, I have also tried changing the plan and 3d to point to element templates, nothing gets it to display the correct cell. 

Is there a setting that controls this?  What am I missing?

 

When looking at the Linear features all the symbology is correct for the feature type but it doesn't seem to use that actual feature definition.  It creates the linear features with a feature definition based on the alpha code rather than the linked feature definition names.

Does any one have experience with this?  It seems like every one using the Openroads Survey functions are inroads or geopack users...... IS THERE ANYONE (MX USERS) OUT THERE?

 

After processing, when you Export the Field book to the mx model file it creates all the MX strings correctly.

Civil cells updating with a change in the profile.

Using GEOPAK SS3 I have several civil cells for driveways that are tied to the EOP profile. The profile changed for this job, and I thought the civil cells were supposed to update accordingly. They did not, has anyone had any success getting them to do so? If so, was there something different you had to do, to make it work?

Locating OpenRoads survey features with VBA

I am trying to find a way to scan a drawing with a VBA macro and gather some information about survey features that are on it and create selection sets based on feature attributes.

I have seen the references to SmartObjects.mvba and looked through those macros for ideas.  They all seem to be macros that would be used when the survey is initially processed, not run after the drawing already exists. 

I want to be able to scan a drawing, detect if an element is a survey feature or not, and, if it has certain attributes, add it to a selection set.  My immediate need is to be able to locate certain survey point features.

Geopak Site Settings

I'm having an issue when existing and reopening geopak site /site modeling that it will not hold setting changed in each session.  For example something as simple as checking on the "Add to Active Object" box in the new/edit elements toolbox every time you open site modeler.

GEOPAK-CROSS SECTION SHEET COMPOSITION TOOL

Hello,

I am using Geopak v8i SS2.

I am using the Cross Section Sheet Composition Tool. For the most part, I am getting successful sheet layouts but occasionally a section falls outside of my sheet cell.  I am trying to understand the many settings within the dialog.  If I select a scale and sheet cell, how can a section appear outside the sheet?

trying to fit vertical curve to existing using vertical regression (inroads ss2)

I'm trying to use vertical regression to make a best fit vertical alignment that is close to the existing grade from a surveyed DTM.  When I go to add vertical regression point, I have 3 options.

1) Horizontal regression points - If I use this, I get a point not found error as I didn't do a horizontal regression.  We were provided a horizontal baseline just not vert.

2) Points - this allows you to pick cogo points one by one but I have 100's of points.  There doesn't seem to be a way to pick multiples.

3) Alignments - this allows you to select your horizontal alignment and it will place a regression point at the cardinals in the horizontal but that is not refined enough as it's placing my points 100's of feet from each other.

If there was just a way to use more of the cogo points it would be fine.

Anyone know how to do this?

GEOPAK-BOREHOLE IMPORT

Hello,

I am using Power Geopak v8i SS2 and gINT v8i.

I am importing boreholes into Power GEOPAK from gINT.  When I open the *.gtd project, I get "A borehole with different name already exist for a give station and offset value."  I know the borehole names, northing-easting and station-offset values are very distinct.  There are only 4 boreholes with different names and locations, as defined in northing-easting values and station-offset values.  I have tried exporting from gINT without the station-offset to allow Geopak to calculate station-offset based on n-e values but still same errors are occurring.  Has anyone encountered this before and may have some idea what could be causing this error?

HOW TO STATION A 3D ALIGNMENT

Does anyone out there know how to station a 3D alignment using InRoads or OpenRoads tools?

Typically, we station alignments beginning with an alignment within a 2D plane. But, I have found that long linear oil/gas projects use 3D stationing based upon ground distances along a profile, rather than just along the x-axis. The examples I have seen show both the 2D stationing as well as "3D" stationing.

Any simple straight-forward ideas on how to do this would be helpful.

GEOPAK-WINDOWS V8.1

hELLO,

I am using Power Geopak v8i SS2.

I am having issues with the Geotechnical tools in Geopak.  Even if I attempt to open a past project that is completed and was fully functional, boreholes will not import, infact the stationing is not being recognized.  I am beginning to wonder if Windows version 8.1 is compatible with Power Geopak v8i SS2.  Has anyone had issues with the latest windows and Geopak V8I ss2?

MXRoad SS4 taking time in generating superevelation report

I am using MXRoad SS4 and when I am generating superelevation report from "Crossfall Checker" of a 20 Kms road, it is only saying " processing -please wait" and then "not responding".

Kindly resolve the issue.
