Alguna idea de cómo definir la superficie frontal en el acceso a un túnel?, el problema es que cuando recorto la superficie del terreno con el corredor de acceso, en corte, la superficie vertical frontal resultante queda como un hueco.

ORD Grading tying in issues

Hi All,

I am using ORD to do the grading of a bioretention pond. I got two methods to do it. One is pond template, another is vertical profile. When choosing pond template using water elevation as origin, the pond bottom, free board and berm do not created. When using vertical element (Profile By Slope From Element) with linear Template to tie it into existing terrain. Non of them works.

Any suggestion especially how to tie in to sloped surface or varied slopes are really appreciated.

How to make contours available in MicroStation referenced ORD file

Hi All,

I referenced ORD file which has a terrain a contours in MicroStation file but cannot see the contours in MicroStation. How can I make it work? I exported InRoads dtm file from ORD terrain. When I open it in InRoads, it located in a different place and difference scale. The terrain was generated in the same place and showed correctly in ORD. Do I miss something when exporting dtm from ORD?

Thanks in advance.

Labeling Cells NOT Working Properly???

$

Ok guys. I've watched the videos on using the place label tool, creating cells, but something is just not working right or I'm doing something horribly wrong??? I earlier tried to create a cell and use in an annotation group, which consisted of some text-centerline symbol-field type. This didn't work, the centerline symbol was on top of the first line of text whenever I placed it, looked fine in the cell file, but I just  moved on.

Now that we are going into our plan labeling, I started the process of customizing/updating labels to meet our standards.

The lower label here is the out of the box NE cell. I included this in the capture to show that when I move the leader across the cell, it doesn't flip, like I believe was stated. Also, if I mirror the label, the justification gets thrown off as well.

Above the NE label on the left is a copy I made of the cell. The only thing I changed was I deleted the boundary around the label, nothing else. I labeled this new cell as _Lbl_Pln_Test and also copied the dimension style for the NE label, also renaming this dimension style _Lbl_Pln_Test, so the auto select would work. As you can see it places the leader in the center of the text, but on the delimit line at least. I saw in the video under "Moving to OpenRoads Designer - Setting up Annotation" on the Learn Server, where it talked about this and said to use the in line leader. Is this in the dimension style under Geometry or Text? What are the settings? Or is this somewhere else I've overlooked?

On the top right is the _Lbl_Pln_Partial_Sta cell that I modified for our text standards, inputting a delimit line you can see under the text. The left side of the line is set to the 0,0 origin, the same as the design of the out of box NE cell. As you can see the leader does not associate to the delimit line. I tried many different operations to fix this, as it seems to associate to the text, but nothing worked.

What I have found though oddly, is when I grab the leaders of either cells I created or modified, and move the leader handle to the correct positions on the delimit line, I can then move the label around and the leader stays associated where it should be.

Also, when using any of the out of box cells with any kind of delimit line, or really any cell, any crossover of the leader arrow or mirroring does NOT flip the cell label or justification.

Please help ASAP!

ORD - CLOCKWISE CIRCLE GEOMETRY

$

When creating a circle geometry for a roundabout, it only seems possible to create geometry in an anti-clockwise direction.  I've tried creating an arc with a sweep angle of 360 degrees in a clockwise direction, but this closes the geometry to create an anti clockwise circle.  In the UK all roundabouts run clockwise, so it makes sense to run our geometry clockwise, or all our stations and profiles will run backwards.  Will get even worse if trying to do a Stockdale design, as all our entries and exits will run backwards.

Is there a workaround, or can this be raised as an enhancement request?

ORD Removing Element Information

Hi all,

I have added Element Information using the Set Element Information tool under Standards in Geometry and it works really well to add comments to ORD elements.

The problem I have is that I can't find a way to delete them. Does anyone know how to remove element information that is no longer required?

As a last resort I can treat it the same as a GEOMETRY error marker and put it on a dummy level and LEVEL ELEMENT DELETE it but this is a very convoluted way to do it.

Is not existing this option? Must I export LAZ Format to LAS Format before import in PowerCivil? How can I do this? Thank you.

OpenRoads Conceptstation - Import XML won't let you choose what template to use

Hi, in Conceptstation when you import an .alg file you can chosse what template you want to choose (rail, road and type).  But when you import an xml you can't.  The thing is when working with

Openroads Designer you can't export to .alg (or I did not find out how) so you have to export to an xml, open the xml in Inroads SS2 or others, save to an alg then open it with Concepstation.

Wouldn't it be easier if there was a way to import an xml and have the same option as an alg?

[IR Ss3/4] Understanding Features PDF Document

At my previous company, I was working on an Ss4 based project and they had a number of Training PDF files. One was an Understanding Features PDF. This was not a PDF of a PowerPoint, but a Bentley Learn Document. I am finding it necessary to explain too many things to others that are in that PDF. Is there a location where I could download it? I am unable to find any learn sessions with a downloadable PDF on this topic.

ORD Text favorites to label Vertical Elements on Profile and in Frame

$

Hi,

I think I must have missed something. I have a single text fav for vertical parabola parameters annotation and another one for circular arcs. Both works fine when I annotate profile line and I get annotation of all vertical curve parameters I need: For parabola: K, i1%, i2%, L, and for arcs: R,K, i1%, i2%, L.

As being said, on profile line I have everything annotated. However for frame annotation (vertical alignment diagram) I can annotate only crest arcs, for all other vertical elements text fav returns 0.0 for all parameteres.

So why Text Fav works fine to annotate profile line, and does not for frame annotation?

Even for lines, I just want to annotateL and slope, L is annotated and slope returns 0.0% in frame and a correct value on profile line.

I was digging into that, and instead of settig element slope in Text Fav I chose point slope and created new text fav for slope annotation to be placed in frame diagram.

Really going crazy with this.

Thanks for your help!

Is there a comprehensive list that shows all the keyins (such as 'corridor reattach') that are useful for Corridor Modeler? It would be great to see that documentation.

GeoPAK HECRAS (*.geo) Open Roads Technology Equivalent

The GeoPAK tools conveniently have a tool that creates a *.geo from channel cross sections that may be directly imported into HECRAS. I know that ArcGIS has a piggy-back program called HECGeoRAS that creates the same file type, but I haven't had much success with it. Also, it would be convenient to do design primarily in Bentley as opposed to including Arc. From what I can see, the Open Roads tools don't have a similar capability. Is this correct?

Hi,

Is it possible to display K value on profile's parabola annotation multiplied by100 as it was possible in InRoads ? I am using R as a curve parameter and would like to annotate it also that way despite using parabolas.

ORD Update 2 Survey Field Book Issues

$

I am currently having problems creating a field book.  I've tried creating a 3D file and in Explorer, navigating down to the Field Books folder under Survey Data>Default-3D.  I right click on Field Books and don't get an option to create a new one.  I do get an option to "Create only in 3D model" but if I click on it I get the message "Command not defined for this application".

I then tried creating a new file and drag and dropping in a .csv file containing survey point previously created in an SS4 model.  The points appear in the model and if you check the properties it says they are in Field Book 1 but again, if you go to the Field Books in Explorer no field books show up.

I also tried creating a new field book by using the icon on the Survey>Field Book ribbon menu and it asks for a name is if it's creating one but after entering a name nothing shows up under Field Book in the Explore>Survey tab.

Has anyone else experienced this or have and suggestions on fixing this issue?

Thanks.

[ORD U2] Element selection using Graphical filter

Hi,

I'm trying to use Graphical Filter tool to select my 3D linear elements (which obviously reside in Default-3D model) but regardless in what model I'm, it always selects elements in Default model.

Please see the attached video - is there anything I'm missing? Thanks.

[ORD U2] Slope signature annotation issue

$

Hi,

I'm trying to annotate my alignment with slope signatures but came across strange behaviour of the tool. There is a stretch of alignment where slope signatures don't display. The attached video shows the problem: there is cutting on the left hand side at the end of alignment which doesn't annotate. Surprisingly, another cutting locations have been annotated which makes me thinking that my annotation group is fine. Any idea why is that? Thanks.
