Is it possible to close a document in ProjectWise Explorer without checking it in? Been looking for a setting somewhere which relates to this, but with no luck.

Thanks!

Power Geopak SS4 - Import Geometry Profile Selection Issue

$

When importing gpks into Power Geopak SS4, every single profile in the gpk is a child of each individual horizontal. Is there a way to only show profiles associated with a particular horizontal? The gpk i'm currently importing contains 40+ horizontals and about 150+ profiles, so essentially i'm forced to expand the list of 150+ profiles under each horizontal and then find and select the two or three that are actually applicable. This is a painstaking process and introduces room for error since in some cases it's not immediately clear which profiles are related to a given horizontal. Any help is much appreciated

[ORD R2] Sight visibility problem

Hi,

I have a very distressing problem concerning sight visibility lines. I attached report where we can see that despite requiring 70m of sight distance the program shows some strange values in column "Sight Distance Along Sight Line Achieved" and these lines are being drawn in model. I have no clue out of where these values are taken but it's a big problem since they are smaller than the required ones. It's completely unreliable. Does anyone know why ORD doesn't draw whole sight distance lines?

Importing Text into Note sheets

Has there been any documentation provided for bringing text into Openroads? In the past for our note sheets we have either created a text box and pasted the text into the textbox and then had to reformat the text to have it appear correctly or printed the text to a pdf and then referenced the document into our note sheets. I was wondering if anyone had a more elegant solution? Both of the ways that I typically do it seem to be a brute force way of doing it. Thanks in advance.

Site Layout - Pad modification, Move and Rotate

I am using ORD 2019 R2 for wind turbine platforms design. Site layout tools are great which lets closed profiles. However an iterative workflow is required for the platform arrangement. Is it possible to rotate and move the placed platform pad. For now it requires replacement of the pad. Is there any existing tool for the modification or any improvement of the application is possible?

C3D Conversion

Has anyone found a way to convert or import Civil 3d feature lines into ORD? I have found it you import an xml surface, the breaklines come in, but they are some form of "3d linear element". Or is there a way to convert "3d linear elements" to civil geometry with an associated profile?

I am having a terrain problem can anyone suggest a solution.

Crossing Points Levels

My crossing points are not on the correct level in my cross sections. My feature definitions are set correctly. The element template assigns the correct level. The level exists in one of my MS_DGNLIBIST files as well as in the CIVIL_CONTENTMANAGEDGNLIBLIST. I even created a style in the XIN used for the preferences of creating the cross sections (though I don't think that is necessary.

Why are all of my point cells on level Default?

Would changing the Global Origin Offset in a "3D Metric Design" seed file cause problems for OpenRoads Designer tools?

$

Is anyone else still dealing with the legacy of V7DGN Global Origin Offsets in the civil design world?

In vanilla MicroStation:

Due to the use of a Global Origin Offset in legacy V7DGN format files, the same Global Origin Offset was added to our V8DGN format files to allow us to attach V7DGN references using the "Coincident - World" method and have all coordinates align.

This also allows for the conversion backwards from V8DGN to V7DGN when required (not so much any more) without that pesky "Off the Design Plane" error.

In OpenRoads Designer:

If this same Global Origin Offset (go=-4425.954,5656450.832 based from xy=0,0,0\uor) is applied to the metric seed files delivered with ORD, will it cause any problems with the ORD Civil Design tools?

Do I leave the GO as delivered and use the reference attachment "Coincident - World" when attaching legacy data files that have the Global Origin Offset applied to keep the geographic coordinates aligned between the files?

Thanks for your insights!

Modelling existing superelevation and showing within the schematic

Hi,

I am wondering is there a way to show the existing superelevation of a road within the superelevation schematic drawing frame.

For example.

When using a corridor and applying a design super elevation using the superelevation editor this works perfectly. The schematic drawing and superelevation editor reflect the design intent.
If for example, the first section of the design is to match the existing road conditions, including horizontal/vertical geometry and crossfall, is it possible to show this within the superelevation schematic drawing?

For example, when using MX, the superelevation schematic takes the levels off the road edge string and calculates the crossfall. So if I were to drape the road edge string onto the existing ground surface, this would show the existing crossfall/superelevation.

I like using the 'Profile by slope from element' for smaller detailed sections. And some times, I have to work with imported 3D elements. However, it seems I wouldn't be able to show resultant superelevation/crossfall within the drawing.

I’d appreciate to know what others think of this.

Apologies for the confusing description.

[OR SS4] RoadwaySetup.xsl design input report

My Roadway Setup Report isn't reporting all of the design inputs as I am expecting.

Template drops and point controls appear to be listed just fine (and I have no secondary alignments, key stations, transitions, or end condition exceptions), but although I have several parametric constraints, none are listed under the Labeled Constraints header.

Am I missing something? The same is true when I look at CompleteCorridorDependencyReport.xsl.

Also, though these other things don't really impact me: there's also no listing or even placeholder for external and clipping references, which would be essential if I did have them as part of my design.

Best Practices for Transitioning from Template Ditch Design to Special Ditch Design

We design templates that produce preliminary designs for ditches in our end conditions. I think that is standard practice. But then, we have our drainage engineers look at runoff and shear strength in ditches to determine the best size and slopes to use. They can take our 3D elements from the preliminary corridor to develop ditch alignments and adjust profiles as necessary. But how do we best incorporate that back into our end conditions?

We have used switches that target specific feature definitions for ditches that preclude the normal standard ditch from controlling the corridor. Are there other means of doing that easier?

UHD Intergrated Graphics 630 GPU ??

I recently received a new i7 vpro HP Z-book w/ 32G Ram from the IT department to run 'openroads designer'. It has a Intel UHD integrated 630 graphics card w/ 128mb VRAM, which is below the 1G VRam recommended min from the Bentley website. Its the first workstation I've used without a discrete graphics card and the goal is to run openroads in a full object based environment. The IT department line is that the 32G systems RAM (16G recommended by Bentley) will compensate.

Seems a shame to buy a new laptop with below min recommended specs or one not certified by Bentley. Does anyone have an opinion on this or a way to objectively test / verify the laptops suitability?

Of interest the intel website claims the 630P (Xeon chip set) is certified for CAD but doesn't state that for the i7 630.

How to fix corrupt OpenSite file

I am running a demo of Opensite. While going through a tutorial I ran the Grading Solver. It crashed. Now I have pieces from the solver in my file that are corrupt and when I try to remove them the software crashes. Being a demo this is no big deal but if this were a live project this could be serious. Are there certain techniques for fixing corrupt files?

I'd post my files but don't see an option for that.
