I'm trying to set up my annotation groups and I've been able to set up ORD so that it will annotate my alignments but all it displays is the alignment name instead of stations. Same thing on profiles. Anyone out there experienced this?
Openroads Designer does not display stationing correctly
Position Mapping Only Actives after Alt + 'Letter' Input
I turned on 'Use Position Mapping' in the user settings (Settings->User->Preferences->Position Mapping). I can only get the tool commands to active if I use the ribbon tab command first (ie. Alt + G for Geometry), then the letter or number combination. Is this the intended workflow for this tool or do I have something set up incorrectly?

[ORD 2019 R2+] Survey Alpha Codes as Feature vs Feature Definition
While testing for using multiple alpha codes, I came across something that seem problematic to me.
First, we have not sent much time setting up any Survey Labels using the Element labeling capability. But we had done a fair amount of development with VBA macros for Ss4 that we brought forward to ORD. As a result, we prefer the VBA macro labels because they permit selective branching and annotation options based upon attribute values (or lack thereof.)
So, I added a few alternate alpha codes and tried them in some test surveys. And here is what I discovered:
- The Feature assigned to a survey figure or point in a survey fieldbook is identified by the alpha code.
- The VBA macro that runs, used the above Feature for its activation.
- This fact, therefore requires multiple Alpha Code Features have multiple VBA Feature Macros to generate labels for any and all possible Alpha Codes
If the VBA Feature Macros were tied to the Feature Definitions, this would not be necessary.
This is less than ideal.
Annotation of Storm CAD data elements in ORD Connect Edition Cross sections layouts
Hi,
We need to label/annotate different storm cad model elements (Conduits with different sizes/Types) in openroads designer connect edition cross sections. actually we directly imported subsurface storm data model (.stsw) into the open road suda. while we cut the roadway model cross sections, all drainage elements displayed in same color. In order to get label/annotate with different color we may have to assign feature styles to individual drainage elements.
Can anybody suggest simple workflow to get assign different feature styles to numerous different drainage elements in open roads designer?
VERY SERIOUS BUG! - Template library corrupt after editing materials (Visualisation) - ORD 2019 R2 U7 (10.07.03.18)
What strikes me initially is that when the numerical seperator is a Point in Windows and in ORD, in the Material editor (3D model - Visualisation Ribbon - Material Editor - Pattern Map) the seperator is a comma. Striking is that this are both point Seperators in MicroStation (in this last application it works good).
After editing materials in ORD, the Template Library becomes Corrupt:
Good (before editing material in Material Editor)
Corrupt after editing material in Material Editor (Templates are flat)
Please fix this very serious bug. People can get serious problems when this happens.
[ORD] Geometry Import via Keyins
Hi all,
We are looking at using keyins to import data from a GENIO and have found we can use a variant of the GEOMETRY FILE IMPORT file=MX model=<modelname> name=<stringname> keyin we used to use in MX SS4 to import strings from our MX model.
I have tried GEOMETRY FILE IMPORT file=<GENIO.txt> model=<modelname> name=<stringname> in ORD and doesn't do anything, however, GEOMETRY FILE IMPORT file=<GENIO.txt> will take me directly to the import geometry dialog for this GENIO to select strings to import.
I'm hoping to be able to use a keyin to import entire models or even files. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Geopak SS4 Drainage tool areas error
Hi,
I have been using Geopak for a project where I need to change some of the areas that I assigned to some inlets. I changed those areas in the dgn and then I used the area tools to assign them to the inlets. Those inlets it might have or not areas assigned before.
The problem is when I update the areas (in the same dgn or in a completely new) from the gdf after saving, the areas that are drawn do not reflect the changes that I made. I repeated 3 times the process just to be sure I was saving and assigning the areas properly. Also, I checked I saved the files in projectwise correctly (I made a test in my c drive just to be sure that it was not a pwise problem).
Anyone with the same problem? What can I do?
Thanks
David
add breakilnes to terrain model
I am trying to add breaklines to a terrain model, I go to Terrain<Feature Management<Add Features, first I click on the terrain model than I click on the features to add, it appears to add them but the triangle edges don't change to meet the new breaklines I've drawn in.
When I go to try to add them again it reads "Element is already is this terrain model. It cant be added" See attached screenshot.
How come the triangles did not change to meet the new breaklines?
Superelevation not carrying throughout corridor
I have the superelevation assigned to the corridor but certain templates are not being controlled. The Lane2,Lane3 and PGL are all flagged in the templates. In the properties dialog those points are highlighted. Any thoughts on why this is occuring? Thanks
[SS4 .878] .NET framework exception when removing an attachment reference
Using Geopak .878, in my cross section generation file, when I attempt to remove an attached reference that has my existing ground surface, I first get a warning that I might be disabling rules:
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> Bentley.MicroStation.Exceptions.InvalidArgumentException: NULL elemRef at Bentley.Internal.MicroStation.Elements.Element.ElementFactory(IElementRef* , DgnModelRef* ) at Bentley.MicroStation.AddIn.ElementChangedEventArgs.get_NewElement() at Bentley.DesignExplorer.ElementExplorer.DgnFileProvider.ElementChangeCallback(AddIn addIn, ElementChangedEventArgs eventArgsIn) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.RuntimeMethodHandle._InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, SignatureStruct& sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) at System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture, Boolean skipVisibilityChecks) at System.Delegate.DynamicInvokeImpl(Object[] args) at Bentley.Internal.MicroStation.EventHandlerSet.Fire(Object eventKey, Object sender, EventArgs e) at Bentley.MicroStation.AddIn.raise_ElementChangedEvent(AddIn sender, ElementChangedEventArgs eventArgs) at Bentley.MicroStation.AddIn.generateElementChangedEvent(msElementDescr* newDescr, msElementDescr* oldDescr, changeTrackInfo* info, Int32* cannotBeUndoneFlag) at Bentley.Internal.MicroStation.CoreHook.DispatchNoHandler(UInt32* argStack, UInt32 mysp, IntPtr pFunc) at Bentley.Internal.MicroStation.CoreHook.Dispatch(UInt32* argStack, UInt32 mysp, IntPtr pFunc)
I get this error also when I try to generate static cross sections in the same working file.
When I use a backup version of this working file, I do not get this error when I remove the same existing surface attachment.
Using civil display browser within the active file, I see no issues; everything is green.
If I detach other references, everything behaves perfectly well, even if I do get a warning that I might be disabling rules.
ORD 2019 R2 U7 - Crash when Selecting Building Pad in Reference file
When I Select a building pad in a Reference file, OpenRoads crashes. Is this type not intended to use as a Reference?
[V8i] Simple Batch Process Throwing System.OutOfMemoryException
I'm trying to cleanup some cell libraries and wanted to turn on ACS display and fit view in each model to simplify the process. These cells are very simple, many only containing less than a dozen elements. The cell library is used when processing field surveying, representing where a survey shot was recorded, so many are simply two lines forming an X with an active point at their intersection, which also happens to be the cell origin.
The cell library is large - over 250 cells.
The batch steps are averaging somewhere around 7 seconds per model using these commands: SET ACS ON, SELVIEW 1, FIT and SELVIEW 1.
Then, thinking I might want to save settings in each model so that when any model is opened, the view is zoomed in. So I canceled the process long before it finished and added a filedesign command to the script.
Suddenly the time for the steps more than doubled and somewhere around the 60th model, it started the out of memory exceptions.
So, I tried going back to the simpler script in a new session. This time, it got to model #108 before throwing a Microsoft.NET Framework unhandled exception error.
Platform: Power InRoads Ss4
Observations: The message in the .NET framework dialog listed Bentley Civil routines. So I decided to try again in the same workspace, but under Power InRoads Ss2.
The batch steps suddenly took less than half the time they were taking. I then stopped the process and added the Filedesign command back in to the script and restarted the batch process without launching a new session.
Final result: 286 cells were processed in just over 16 minutes.
This might be better posted in the OpenRoads forum, but since batch processing is core MicroStation. I'll leave it up to the moderators to decide.
Cross Sections surface issues.
Hi,
I have been trying to export XS from my model and I seem to run into 2 problems:
1. I cannot figure out how to display the existing surface only per station rather than the full 3D surface model. Inside the red box you can see the template drop.
If I cycle through the cross-sections in the dynamic XS view, it does it as if I was driving along the road.
2. As you can see from the 2nd picture, the corridor doesn't seem to clip the surface mode. (Each of the 3 components are a separate dgn file: alignment, exist. surface & corridor- where I am creating the XS) This makes me think it would also not tie-in correctly.
Thank you for your help.
David.
How can I see Survey Info I imported into Open Site Designer when I open the file in Microstation?
When I import my survey data in OpenSite Designer the info for each point can be seen when I turn on the Decorations (Names, Field Codes, and Elevations) but when I save the file and than open it in Microstation all that info is gone and the only thing left is each point. We usually work with 1000's of points and will need to see elevations at any given time so having to figure out which point I'm at can be very difficult that's why I am hoping to find a way to have that information come in when I open it with Microstation.
Crashing when selecting Subsurface Node
Have narrowed down the specific corrupt node however I cannot delete the node without having it crash as well
